This is a card I made for one of our neighbours. After work tonight I delivered treats to the neighbours - that always makes it feel more like Christmas to me:)

Some of my very favourite paper

These nugget boxes were made with some of my very favourite paper. I'm very judicious with my favourite papers and ribbons and have to remind myself to use it... I've only made 3 things with this paper so far this year, now that's not good...

Baja Nuggets

I've been loving the way the striped in colour ribbon feels and what pretty bows you can tie with it! Three of us got together and shared so we each have several meters of each colour, but some for some colours I think I'm going to need more:) (OK, I know, I've got a thing for ribbon;)

More Snowflakes...

I'm loving this felt snowflakes from SU... I only bought one pack and I can't believe how many of them there were - I still have tonnes!! AND that brown ribbon with the coloured snowflakes is from American crafts:)

'Merry Christmas'

Here I was getting to the end of my Christmas cards for this year and it occured to me that I hadn't used my 'Merry Christmas' ribbon - you can't have Christmas without 'Merry Christmas' ribbon?!! So cards and nugget boxes now abound with this most festive of ribbons:)

Striped Nuggets even!

I told you I made all kinds of nugget boxes on the weekend:) Here's a link to Splitcoast's tutorial if anyone's feeling inspired to make a few of their own:)

...the tutorial is for a 3 nugget box and I've been making 5 nugget boxes with Nicole's instructions. The base for the box measures 7 x 3.5 and the wrap for the box measures 5 x 5 and the wraps for the nuggets measure 3 x 1.

If you do make some, let me know so I can some and see:)

Nordic MERRY Christmas...

...almost done...I think I only need another 4 or so cards...

...all the ones for the mail went out on Friday, so it's friends and relatives that we'll see over the next few weeks that I'm working on and it's coming:)

Nugget Boxes

So today I made 14 (I think it's 14, could be more...) nugget boxes... A few of them are for some friends at work. They're all different, and I'll post some more of them another day, but I thought I'd post these today since they use the same paper as today's card did:)

More vintage Christmas card feel...

Here are a couple more of the cards I've been making for friends this weekend:)

Cinema Saturday #9

(...sigh...) It's Thursday and ever since this week's Cinema Saturday was revealed I've been wanting to participate, but things have been so hectic this week and the only creating I've had time for is to work on some of my Christmas presents and cards that HAVE to go out soon.

This week's theme was 'The Sound of Music'. I love that movie!! And I loosely based my idea for how to do these two projects on my thoughts of the movie. First of all, the patterns and paper were kind of inspired by my thoughts of Austria and the mountains - they have a sort of Nordic feel, and then the snowflakes in the paper and clear embellished on the backgrounds of the pieces where the words are came from my favourite song from the movie...when she says, "snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes...these are a few of my favourite things..." I know the projects don't closely resemble any scenes from the movie, but sometimes it works that way.

Thanks to Sankari and Brooke for the inspiration and for reminding me of a such a warm movie this week!

Colour Inspiration #33

I haven't been able to play along with Kristina's colour inspiration for a few weeks, so this morning as I was making Christmas balls for my Secret Santa I took my inspiration colour-wise from Kristina!

Boy the days are getting shorter?! These pictures were taken in the window at 9:30 a.m. and it's still not light enough to get a really good picture!! Oh well, Christmas is coming:)

Cinema Saturday #7 Continued

I made this little nugget box to go with the card I made earlier this week for Cinema Saturday (Miracle on 34th Street). Only I had a problem... I thought I bought Hershey nuggets, but they were Hershey miniatures and they have different dimensions so I remade my box a couple of times and it's still not perfect. If anyone has the dimensions for making these with miniatures, please let me know 'cause I have 2 bags of Hershey's miniatures to use up! :)

Happy Birthday Darling!

Today is my wonderful, handsome husband's birthday! I cherish this man!! He is everything I ever dreamed of and more. Happy birthday darling!

Cinema Saturday #8

This week's Cinema Saturday challenge was based on the movie Miracle on 34th Street. You know the one where the little girl doesn't at first believe in Santa Claus and where Santa Claus gets put on trial. Such a heart warming film:) One of my favourite parts about Christmas is being able to be Santa to others. After all, Santa is based on St. Nicolas, a man of faith who showed love in a very tangible way to children without. A 'merry' soul indeed!

Father-in-law's Birthday

It was my Father-in-law's birthday this weekend and we had them over for dinner on Sunday. My mother-in-law is a vegatarian, so I made turkey lasagne with caesar salad. During the week life is so hectic these days (ever since I changed jobs almost 2 years ago now) that I can't plan to have people over at all during the week any more, and I find that weekends don't go far either, so it's nice when it does work out:) I'm looking forward to more of that as the Christmas season approaches. AND - I just learned our friends from Chicago will be here for Christmas starting on December 20th - so I have some get-togethers to plan:)

This is my Father-in-law's birthday card - yes, he's a hockey fanatic and I used Canuck colours since that is his team. It's fairly simple, no bows or sparkles, but I'm pretty sure he prefers it that way;)

Happy Hour

I went to Happy Hour at JSI this weekend and this is what I made... It's a cd holder - it closes with velcro on the other side where there's a pocket for your cd and then there's a tag in a pocket on this side so you can write a message, a playlist, a wish or journal even. I love that ribbon too:) I love getting new ideas to work with!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Here's my first ever round card! It's made using Nicole's coluzzle. The jury is still out for me on whether to get a coluzzle for cutting circles or not. On the one hand I love the options it gives you, but on the other hand I'm not that coordinated and it's a little hard to use. But then again - maybe practice makes perfect!

Cinema Satruday #7

I've missed the last couple of Cinema Saturdays either because I was away or I was catching up on life when I came back, so I was so happy to be able to sneak a few minutes in this morning to 'play' with this week's challenge.

This week's movie-theme was Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Because I live in Canada, Thanksgiving has passed (second week in October here), and so I decided to make it a Charlie Brown Christmas (instead of thanksgiving) as I still need some more Christmas cards:)

I took my inspiration mainly from the Christmas lights that Charlie Brown's poor little tree wouldn't hold and that Snoopy's house had been adorned with and that after Linus' lesson they all gathered around a real fir tree with:)

I hope you like it... And a BIG Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!!

This Year's Card Swap

So I went to my stampin' club last night and it was our Christmas card swap. What fun! I was a little behind having gone away and all with getting my cards done, but in the end it all worked out. This is what I made this year:)

On a side note, for something special we met at this little coffee shop called 'Tastebuds' - they had a private room and everything to accomodate all 12 of us - such a treat!

Guess where I've been?!

...and this was the view from the scrapbooking store there where I got to 'play' one afternoon! (that's the Three Sisters Mountain:)

For our anniversary, my amazing hubby and I took a quick trip to Calgary and then on to Cochrane, Canmore and Banff (we mostly stayed in our favourite little Inn in Canmore - think English charm, amazing views, fireplace....) We had originally planned to head to Jasper this year, but Brian Doerksen and Kathryn Scott were going to be in concert in Calgary, so we decided to go that route. It was quite the opportunity to see the two of them together (Kathryn is from Causeway Coast, Ireland - I could go on and on about what her and her husband have taught us...!)

So off to Calgary we went - and the concert was AMAZING! ...and we did end up really enjoying our few days there, but mostly because we worked really hard at it - as it turned out that it was very stressful to get around Calgary and the shopping wasn't what we thought it would be, but we did end up eating at White Spot (one of our favourites), spending a morning at IKEA and finding a guitar and scrapbooking shop that we enjoyed, so all was well and then off to the mountains we went!

Canmore was were we spent our 5th Anniversary last year and so it is very special to us! As that was the first time we ever did a getaway like this:) Time prevents me from telling you about all the beautiful things we saw and did, but it was all charming, and not only did I get to look around in this cute scrapbook shop there with the view above, but I got to create a bit there. This is my first acrylic mini album - I got their scrapping room all to myself - just me, the mountains and the fireplace:) The book's not done yet, but I thought I'd post my progress since it had been so long since I posted something:)

2. Pick 5 blogs you think deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and for contributing to the blogging community.
3. List the author's name and link to his or her blog.
4. Leave a message on the blogs of those you've selected.
5. Link back to the original Arte y Pico blog http://arteypico.blogspot.com/, so all will know the origin of the award.

Here are 5 blogs that I would like to share this with:

1. Michele at the Stamp Link. She often has new ideas that inspire me to create! I love the scrapbook pages she has up on her blog right now!
2. Dannie at Dannie's Designs. I love her tutorials! She's always sharing new ideas!

Cinema Saturday #4

'Grease is the word...is the word...

...it's got groove it's got meaning...'

So this week's Cinema Saturday challenge is inspired by the movie Grease, and my card is a card I've made for a friend who just got back from a month long vacation. Of course I took inspiration from the red convertible from the movie, from blonde haired sizzled up Sandy and then I tried to play that against some varsity feeling elements - the pennant, the argyle. I picked the red and white in the card because those were Ridel's colours.

'Grease is the word...'

'We take the pressure and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
'
