The New Annual Catalog is Coming! ...goes live June 2nd!!!

I received my copy of the 2015-16 Annual Catalog which goes live June 2nd this week...and I received the supply of catalogs I've ordered.  I haven't quite delivered to all my club girls yet (given recent events), but this is in process.  If you live in Saskatoon and want a copy of the catalog & have not received one yet, please contact me & we'll arrange for you to get one.

Also, as you can see above, I have added tabs to my copy of the annual catalog.  If you'd like to receive the word document I created to make the tabs, please leave your email address in a comment below or email me and I will be happy to send it to you.  For some reason Blogger will not let me include a link to the document in this post.

The 2015-17 *new* in colours are above.  I made a bookmark featuring each of them and slipped it into the catalogs for each of my club ladies this weekend.  The new in colours are:  watermelon wonder, cucumber crush, delightful Dijon, mint macaroon & tip top taupe...and I already have a favourite!:)

And what, may you ask, is my favourite? ...why it's the very colour of the Laduree tea salon and more in Paris

MINT MACARON!!!  (pronounced:  maca-roon...ask any Frenchman!:)

I've started a board on pinterest for 'mint macaron'...loving all the colour combinations I'm coming up with for it!!

And, speaking of colour combinations, how about this one:  mint macaron, tip-top tauge & watermelon wonder?....
Love, love love, the new lace trim that comes in ALL of the new in colours!

What's your favourite of the new colours?

Explaining a Long Absense..

(The beautiful art above was created by my talented upline, Shawna McKenzie)

Without going into a lot of details, earlier this month my Mom passed away very suddenly.  It has been a difficult time in many ways, but God is always good and we are doing ok.

Today I'm sharing the card my SU upline & friend sent me.  Shawna is an amazing artist & the card is stunningly beautiful!  I love the way she used many elements from the On Film Framelists to the way she coloured the floral image, and especially, the use of the Dictionary background stamp (which is retiring).

A special thank you to all of those blog readers who have sent messages, cards and flowers, and especially to those who have prayed!!

Birthday gift for a Friend at Work

It's a work chum's bday on Tuesday & she's always commenting on the things I've made in my office so I had to make her a little something;)

This is how I wrapped it...I used SU's treatback die to create the little bag & even to embellish the tags:)
...and this little notepad with a cover made from a window sheet is her little gift...I used the 'hello you' thinlets to cut the word 'hello' from silver glimmer paper...
And finally, this is the birthday card I made to go along with the gift...my friend loves pool party in all it's shades which include coastal cabana and lost lagoon:)

Circle Journal on a Snow Day

Yes, the 26th of April and we've had over 10 inches of snow in the past 24 hours!?!  Church was even cancelled this morning!  I don't recall that ever happening before?!!  But it did give me some time to work on my circle journal....

My circle journal is a place where I plan to journal about verses and thoughts that God gives me as He inspires me to do so.  When I work on my journal I'm not working with any one company's craft supplies (usually most posts are mainly SU)...instead I'm working with whatever captures my heart in my stash in the moment...

It's a work in progress, but here's a glimpse so far...the cover:

I used the back-to-back binding method for this journal and left off a spine because of how I want to display it (see below).  I still plan to paint the spine in gold or silver to finish it off, but this is where I'm at on this snowy day...

...and below is how I plan to display it...
The pages & tags will be filled in as I said when God inspires me with a verse or word:)

That's the Ticket - One of my Favourites is Retiring!!

There are a few things on SU's retiring stamps list that surprised me because they are all time favourites of mine like:
- dictionary & postcard background stamps!
- chalk talk & the coordinating framelits!
- postage due stamp set
- apothecary accents framelits
AND
- that's the ticket stampset & coordinating die!!!

I can't imagine getting rid of any of the items above, they are staples in my stash:)  There may be other retiring items that I will eventually sell off, but not these:)

Today my card features the that's the ticket stamp set and coordinating punch (I also used some color shine goodies & mint color shine from HS:)  It was a dear friend's birthday earlier this month & this was the card I had made for her:)

Tag Talk & Many More

Today I'm sharing a card I made using Heidi Swapp's color shine line for a very special birthday celebration this weekend:)  The stampsets I pulled out for this card fro SU were:  Tag Talk (and the coordinating punch) and 'And Many More".  Inks used were pool party, stazon black and blushing bride.

Instagram Album using So You Project Kit

This weekend I finished an album of my 2014 Instagram favourite pictures using the So You Project Kit from SU.  The kit can be found on page 42 of the Occasions Catalog.  You'll notice that my album looks completely different than the one SU has featured.  That's one of the things I like about it, the versatility.  I had so many instagrams from 2014 that I wanted to put in the album that I didn't create many pages that were just decorative...almost all of them are 4x4 photos:)
Above is just a sample of what is inside.  you can stamp right on pictures, but what I prefer to do & what I did here was to stamp on window sheets and then insert them on top of the picture.  4x4 blank window sheets are included in the kit.  I stamped using several favourite stamp sets I have, but what's important to remember is to use stazon ink when stamping on window sheets (or pictures)...it's solvent based so won't smudge off once dry:)

How about you?  What have you done with your instagram pictures?  I know so many people who never get their pictures off their phone/camera these days, so I'm issuing a challenge, print your pictures!  ...and then put them in an album or memory file or some kind of project & show me:)  My favourite way to do that is with Project Life these days & this project kit was like a mini version of that sized perfect for 4x4 pictures only, but there are lots of options with Project Life for all sizes of pictures!  My favourite two are the Let's Get Away card collection (see Occasions Catalog) and the Love Story card collection (see Annual Catalog).  Pocket memory keeping is definitely the may much of my scrapbooking has gone in the last year or two & it seems to be a staying trend in the industry too!:)

Weekend Class/Workshop - Project #3 - Painted Petals Card

You've seen a different version of this card on my blog previously, but I changed it up for this class when the butterfly framelits used in the previous 2 projects went on backorder so I could add a project with a different stampset...this time, Painted Petals.  We also used the Hello You thinklets to cut the word 'you' out of a piece of coastal cabana...we then masked the word 'you' off of the stamp 'You are amazingly amazing' to create a neat effect. The flower images were stamped in the following in colours which will be retiring at the end of May (which makes me sad...they are some of my favourite):  Coastal cabana, strawberry slush & crisp canteloup...the edges of the vanilla stamped piece are sitting on strips of washi tape placed 1/8" from either side of the card base.

Butterfly Basics Class/Workshop - Project 2 - Butterfly Basics Card

This is the 2nd project from the class/workshop I hosted on Saturday.  Again it features the Butterfly basics stamp set & coordinating dies.  The card base is Crisp Canteloup, the printed flag banner is from the Typeset dsp pack, the pink flag is Strawberry slush.  The larger butterfly was cutout of gold foil with a butterfly framelit and the smaller one was stamped in Coastal Cabana and then cut out with the coordinating die & then a cut out of vellum with the same die was used to overlay.  The project was finished with a piece of Crisp Canteloup thick Bakers Twine.

Note Card, Butterfly Basics - Card 3

One final note card from my playing around with the  butterfly basics stamp set & collaging & my new favourite thing...the Hello You thinklets (which I cut the hello in gold foil out of:)  I got some inspiration for this one on pinterest.  First I created a heart mask & then I stamped a collage of stamps from Butterfly Basics.

The last 3 days I posted 3 different note cards with the exact same supplies:  Butterfly Basics stamp set, SU notecard set (in white)...the only thing I've varied are ink colours...yet each card is miles from the other...that's just one of the things that I luv about creating!!:)

Note card, Butterfly Basics - Card 2

This card was completely inspired by Shelli Gardner & a card & video she made...I went way over board on this one with embossing & sponging and all the little details that I possibly could:)

Again, it's just a note card from the set you can get form SU, but it looks completely different from yesterday's card...so versatile...same stamp set (butterfly basics) as yesterday too...and more collaging:)

Note card, Butterfly Basics Series - Card 1

This past weekend as I was coming up with projects for my butterfly basics class next Saturday, I got to playing with SU notecards...don't you love them...for just $7.50 you get 20 cards & envelopes...cut, scored, ready to go.

My favourite thing about the Butterfly Basics stamp set in the Occasions catalog is how well it works with collaging!  I think a lot of stampers are liking this set too...though it is the coordinating butterflies dies that have gone on backorder...one week before my class...here's hoping they are in stock again by next Saturday!

Hello Life - Birthday Card

Last week was my daughter's birthday, so I thought I'd share with you the card I made using the Hello Life stamp set.  The greeting you see above was embossed in silver on a flag I made from rich razzleberry card stock.  The base of the card is wisteria wonder & the dsp is from the typeset collection.

The butterfie both were created with the Butterfly framelits in the Occasions Catalog...the larger one was cut out of silver glimmer paper & the smaller out of Irresistably Yours dsp  which was then sponged with pool party.  The Irresistably Yours dsp can be earned for FREE during sale-a-bration!:)

February Club Project - Basket of Cards with Painted Petals

For my February stamp club I figured out how to make a strawberry basket that would fit regular size/A2 cards and showed the ladies.  This month's project included making the basket & a set of 6 cards with coordinating envelopes.
For the basket, I used a 12 x 12 sheet of pistachio pudding (or very vanilla) card stock.  The baskets were adorned with goodies from the Artisan Embellishment kit...love that pink rose!  They were also trimmed with the Sahara Sand lace from the Occasions Catalog.
We made 2 each of 3 different cards to combine for a set of six.  We used the Pained Petals stamp set for all card and also afterward to decorate the envelopes.  Cardstock & ink colours were:  pistachio pudding, blackberry bliss, blushing bride and pool party.  We also used staz on black to stamp the greetings.

Below are all 3 cards:

It was a fun evening & we all felt like artists by the end of it!!:)

Bow Punch Card

Back at Christmas you might have noticed a card we made at my Christmas club where we used oval punches to create bows and used these bows to make a tree on our card.  Well, here's my updated valentine/friend version!!  ...only this time I'm not using oval punches, I'm using the new bow builder punch in the occasions catalog...love it!  The dsp on this card all comes from the Stacked with Love paper stack in the occasions mini & the hearts were punched out of whisper white cardstock after it was embossed with the polka dot folder (heart punch can be found in the annual catalog).

Painted Petals - You Are Amazingly Amazing Cards

I luv, luv, luv the Painted Petals stamp set in the new Occasions Catalog...I think I've said before it's probably my favourite thing.   When I got a chance to just sit down and create for fun today, it was the first thing I reached for...and it didn't hurt that SUs artisan design team was also creating inspiration with it this month:)

The above card not only used Painted Petals but I also the I(heart)u cutout using the Label Card thinlets die.  I was inspired by another demonstrators use of the cutout of alphabet letters on a card she made this month & I luved how this worked out when I tried it:)

I liked the first card so well, that I kept on playing as I wanted to make this card for a friend currently in hospital.  I used the same stampset, Painted Petals, but this time I stamped more images and played with a flower punch rather than a thinlet cutout for this one & I embellished the flower with a rhinestone.

Inks used on these cards were:
- blushing bride & raspberry ripple for the flowers (RR is now retired, so you could use melon mambo or rose red instead, but I'm still in love with RR, so that is what I pulled out:)
- pear pizzaz for the leafs

The card base for the first card was island indigo, but for the second card I tried Bermuda bay...not sure which I like best

The washi tape used to border both cards comes from the Epic Day pack in the annual catalog.

January Club Projects - SAB Best Year Ever & Hello Life Memory File

For my January club I decided I wanted to show them how to make a photo stack with dsp & I thought it would be the perfect timing with the start of SAB and the beautiful Best Year Ever dsp that can be earned for free during SAB!:)   ...well that morphed into a full memory file as I decided I wanted a way to display a few pictures of my daughter on my desk...

(Above) is the cover....the base file is out of a pack I got on sale at Staples (Martha Stewart line).  I chose them because they coordinated well with coastal cabana & they were on sale.  I trimmed the file down to the size I wanted.  The front was embellished with the new butterflies thinklet dies, some seam binding ribbon and an image from the new Hello Life stamp set which I cut out with framelits and matted with coastal cabana.  The words were double stamped since the stamp set is in photopolymer, that gave a raised border/shadow to the words which were stamped in soft suede and then coast cabana.
(above) is what the inside looks like & is how I intend to display the memory file on my desk.  The dsp, ribbons and buttons all came from the SAB brochure & can be earned for free during SAB!:)

Above is a close up of the photostack we made using the Best Year Ever dsp.  We took 2 strips (4 x12) of different double sized patterns and folded them in half with about an inch offset to create the photostack...then we used a cropadile to punch 2 holes in the top spine and then bound the 4 resulting stacked pages together with the Best Year Ever coordinating ribbon.

Above is a close up of the feature picture page on which we created a matt with the Best Year Ever dsp and then we created that cute little pennant using the pennant builder punch and the Irresistibly Yours specialty dsp also in the SAB brochure.  We used the fan patterned sheet and a spritzer filled with alcohol and a few drops of coastal cabana to spray the specialty dsp which has an emboss/resist effect.  We trimmed the pennant banner with some of the buttons from the Best Year Ever embellishment pack from the SAB brochure.  It's great how everything coordinates in the SAB lines used...made it even simpler to design and put this project together:)

Hello Life - Valentine

Another favourite stamp set from the Occasions Catalog is the Hello Life set.  I'll post a project from my stamp club later this week that uses the largest image & is the reason I bought the set, but I was playing with other elements of the set over the weekend to create this valentine or note card.  The ink colours I used were:  strawberry slush, pool party & baked brown sugar.  Just a simple card, but a sweet one!:)

Lotus Blossoms Cards - 3Step Stampin - SAB

The lotus blossoms stamp set is my favourite stamp set you can earn for free during sale-a-bration (SAB).  Today I'm posting just 2 of the samples I made using 3Step stamping and this beautiful set.  The inks I used for the blooms are:  blackberry bliss, wisteria wonder and for the 3rd wisteria wonder again, but stamped off once.  For the stems I used:  pear pizzazz and mossy meadow.  The dimension and beauty of these flowers stamped is so lovely, especially in person:)

Painted Petals Screen Card

Screen cards seem to be on trend right now.  I've seen quite a few on pinterest & various blogs.  I made this one before Christmas for a dear friend's birthday.  I had just received my Occasions Catalog preorder and I couldn't wait to play with the Painted Petals stamp set from it.  Painted Petals is probably my favourite new stamp set.  I love how it gives a watercolour look easily!  I also used the Banner Blessings polymer stamp set that came out about 6 weeks ago fro the banner 'friend' greeting on the front of the card.

The base effect on the screen card is achieved with the decorative labels punch.  Also I used some Moonlight dsp pack paper to matte the various panels I stamped for the card.  Inks used on this project were:  blackberry bliss, mossy meadow & stazon black.
