Sweet Little Girl's Birthday

I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a sweet little girl's birthday in our neighbour- hood.

I used the Birthday Bakery stampset which is one of the current hostess sets...it has so many adorable images! The card base is pretty in pink card stock, and the patterned paper is from the in color dsp pack which is also an exclusive hostess reward. If you don't have either of these yet, give me a call to book a workshop and you could earn them for free along with other great rewards on now during sale-a-bration!

I coloured the cakes and pedelstals using SUs markers, and the 'wish big' sentiment comes from the short & sweet stampset. The project is finished off with pretty in pink grossgrain ribbon and a rhinestone from the jewels page:)

Happy Birthday Dolly!

Today is mydaughter'sbirthday...my daughter, who has a fascination for Asian food & Asian culture. This made for a challenge for me as my creative style doesn't really tend in that direction, but my heart tends in Amanda's direction so this is the card I came up with... It reads 'Happy 16th Birthday' in Japanese on the front and has a message both in Japanese & English inside. I black embossed the flowers from the Elements of Style set to create the pattern for the card on a ridinghood red cardstock base. The banner is made out of very vanilla cardstock and I used vintage trinkets on it along with some black satin ribbon.
I also made her some paper fortune cookies with wishes & virtues on them.I used the love letter dsp and the fabulous phrases stampset. I've seen paper fortune cookies around the internet and just had to sit and play for a while last weekend to figure it out. For the base you cut a large circle out of patterned paper...then you softly fold it in half one way (don't crease) and then do the same the other way (again don't crease). Then you go back to the first fold and attach the centre of the edges together with a mini glue dot. The you fold it back on itself the opposite direction and plump the paper open and attach with one more mini glue dot. These were definitely fun to make.

One last project toshare - and this one has been a labour of love. Amanda's party with friends is today and they will be eating Asian food tonight - so in lieu of a birthday cake I've been making candy sushi since Amanda adores sushi. These plates are my progress last night. Once I have it all complete today I'll be stacking on a pedestal plate with candles on top...then the remaining sushi will surround it on the table on sushi plates (she received several sets as gifts:)

I've gotta run...have a bunch of teenagers to chauffeur around and prepare for;)

Another Paper Flower...

...this time on a tin! Again the tutorial for this flower from Kim can be found here!

- my smooch spritz...I love the way vanilla smooch adds that bit of sparkle & irridescence!
- botanical gazette dsp - this paper is found in the occasions mini which runs until April - and it's even better in person! If you don't have a mini yet, contact me and I'll get one to you!
- cherry cobbler seam binding - I lvoe this new ribbon...and I love the way you can gather the ends for a neat vintage effect!
- vanilla rosettes - I LOVE this...so pretty!
- rhinestone jewels (and pearls too) - these sparkle so amazingly!

More Valentines for my Prince

This was the box I made for my hubby's valentine's surprises. The base is made out of a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock and the lid a 6 x 6 piece. It contained tickets to the Heart concert this Friday for our Valentine's date...but they were hidden at the bottom...there were pictures and hints for him to sift through first and then this wrapped Ritter dark chocolate and whole hazelnut bar (he loves dark chocolate with different nuts)!:) I wrapped the bar which was square and super thick with a cardstock, similarly to the one I posted on Sunday, just different dimensions and embellished form there:)

Presto Patterns DSP Demonstration

At each workshop I try to do a demonstration before the make & takes. This weekend I thought I'd highlight the use of texture on projects. First I did a quick bookmark and dry embossed it with texture plates, and then I highlighted presto patterns DSP as another alternative...particularly for those who don't have a Big Shot...yet.

The background for this page is on presto patterns DSP. First I inked it direct-to-paper...then I came back in with sponge. Then I sprayed the bottom with log cabin smooch spritz...then I used a foam brush...then I let it dry. Then I smooched the word 'Paris' with vanilla smooch spritz...and this was the result:)

Recipe (all SU except for charm which is ACP):
DSP - presto patterns
Card stock - basic black, very vanilla
Ribbon - striped grosgrain
Ink - close to cocoa, chocolate chip
Smooch spritz - log cabin, vanilla

Workshop Make & Take #2

Ohhhh yesterday's workshop was fabulous!! I had so much fun with all of the ladies!!

And this card was our second make & take project. Well actually, as you can see, there were two choices as to how this card was finished. I just recall how through the years when I was in other clubs some of the ladies would groan when we got near Valentines and the demonstrator would show the valentine we were about to make. I didn't want that to happen, so this 'amour' card came complete with a 'friend' option!;):)

Recipe (all SU):
Stamps - define your life, i {heart} hearts, artistic etchings (and for those with the 'friend' option, fabulous phrases)
Cardstock - cherry cobbler, early espresso, naturals ivory
DSP - neutrals designer series
Accessories - cherry cobbler seam binding OR crumb cake taffeta
Ink - crumb cake, cherry cobbler, early espresso
Punches - designer label

SAB Workshop - Make & Take #1

Today is my SAB workshop! I love sale-a-bration and can hardly wait for the free goodies to arrive!

At my workshops I try to demonstrate one project/technique and then I have 2 make & take projects that everyone gets to make and take home:) I figure that you prefer creating your own rather than watching me the whole time;) Usually one of the make & takes is a 3D project and one is a card.

This is today's 3D make & take - see what you're missing! It's a little treat holder made from elements of the two tags die (see this post for more details). AND it's filled with chocolate! I've set this entry to post at 2pm just as we're beginning:)

If you want to have a SALE-A-BRATION workshop of your own, be sure to contact me. During SAB my theme is chicks and chocolate - in other words, you bring the chicks (guests) and I'll bring some chocolate:) At a workshop you'll get to make 2 projects you can take home with you and learn some techniques and visit with some great people...plus as a hostess you'll get your own Idea Book and Catalog and a small gift from me! AND during SAB you can earn free merchandise from the SAB catalog, so it's the best time to book a workshop of your own (and it's an awesome time for your guests to attend one too)!! Just email me or give me a call and we'll find a date & time that works for you:)

Recipe (all SU):
Cardstock - chocolate chip, crumbcake, vanilla
Ink - chocolate chip, ridinghood red
Stamps - Eat chocolate, I {heart} hearts
Ribbon - striped grosgrain
Punches - three heart, decorative label, scallop trim border & small oval

Not-my-style Valentines

Today I'm posting two valentine cards that aren't really my style - they are based on colour schemes that I don't gravitate to but some people I know really like. I think it's of value to create at times with recipient in mind:) That being said - while they may not be totally my style there are certainly elements of me in each of them.

The colours in the first were inspired by the marina mist satin ribbon on my craft desk that hasn't been used alot. I laid a piece on a sheet of the springtime vintage paper and that's where the green/blue/vanilla colour scheme was born. Ribbons & bows are definitely me...as is that little *love* tag:)

For the second card, so many of my friends *love* purple so I sat down with some razzleberry paper & ribbon and my dsp hostess pad with all the in colors and picked the pear pizzaz to *pear* it with (no pun intented;) I pulled out my scallop envelope die for the big shot because I haven't used it in a while and made the little hearts from my 3 heart punch spill out. I love those hearts:) ...which is probably why I used the i {heart} hearts stampset on both cards.

Both of these cards were pretty quick and simple & here are the supplies (all SU) if you want to make them yourself:
Cardstock - Pear pizzaz, very vanilla, razzleberry
DSP - Vintage sprintime, in color designer series hostess I pack
Stamps - i {heart} hearts; tiny tags
Ribbon - marina mist satin, rich razzleberry grosgrain (the dotted version was in last year's catalog but there is an undotted version in the current catty and if you love the dots check out my website as there were still some colours of it available on the clearance rack last time I looked;)
